Rental Cars Made Easy (and Fashionable) with Turo
During our recent trip to the Los Angeles area, we needed to rent a car to get around and visit some family while we were in town. Knowing that we would likely be spending A LOT of time in the car (thanks LA traffic), we wanted to rent something that would be fun to be in even if we were sitting in traffic on the freeway.
After doing some research on renting a Tesla (Katelyn's a big car freak), we stumbled across Turo. The easiest way to explain Turo is to call it the Airbnb of cars. People list their personal cars on the website and other people can rent them, whether they need a car for a day, an hour, or a month.
We found lots of Teslas on Turo but there is everything from Toyotas to Lambos. Definitely something for everyones' style, functionality, and price point!
Renting a car with Turo is simple:
Signing up is quick and easy! Use our referral link (https://turo.com/c/katelynd39) to sign up and you will get a $25 credit to use towards your first rental!
Find the Perfect Car
Enter your travel dates and location and search our vast selection of unique, locally-owned cars. You can then sort by make, model, color, or a number of other filters to find the car that fits your need, mood, or style! For us, we picked a Tesla Model X with Autopilot in the Orange County area of California!
Book It!
Book the car of your dreams. The owner will confirm or decline your trip within eight hours, but typically it’s much sooner. Book cars instantly on listings with the “Book Instantly” badge.
Get the Car
Most rentals will require you to meet the car owner to pick it up. However some owners are willing to deliver the car for free or at a small fee. Our owner was able to bring the car to us, which was very nice!
Once you meet up with the car owner, all you'll need to do is show them your license and take a walk around the car to indicate any damage or other issues. Once the formalities are out of the way, you get the keys and you can drive off into the horizon!
Have the Time of Your Life
Here's where the fun part starts! Go explore! In the city or the woods, for a few days or a few weeks, rain or shine, grab your shades and go create something to write home about.
For us, not only did we need a vehicle that we could use to visit family while in California but we also wanted to test out the autonomous "Autopilot" mode offered in Teslas.
Return the Car
At the end of your trip, replace the gas (or in our case, stop by a Tesla Supercharger) you used and meet the owner to drop off the car. You need to walk around the car again for an inspection before handing over the keys. Simple as that!
Thanks to the wonderful people at Turo, we have a referral link that will get you $25 off your first rental as long as you sign up and create an account using the button above.
Happy driving!
