Is Milk Bar Worth the Hype?

During a recent trip to New York City, we found ourselves in front of an inviting (yet tiny) pink shop in Chelsea called Milk Bar. Katelyn’s a sucker for colorful branding and sweets so of course we stepped inside.

Although we weren’t familiar with the establishment, Milk Bar is known for inventing the Compost Cookie®, layer cakes with unfrosted sides, Cereal Milk™ Soft Serve, and Crack Pie®.

We ended up with two cookies, one vegan and one not. Each one was over $2.00 and neither of them really rocked our world. The flavors were a bit off, the composition was dense and kind of dry, and overall just blah. Totally wouldn’t get them again.

However Katelyn also got the Fruity Cereal Milk™ Shake, which is Fruity Pebble infused milk blended as a milkshake and topped with the cereal. It tastes just like the milk at the bottom of a bowl of fruity pebbles! It comes in a couple sizes, ranging in price from $6.50 to 7.50. And it’s worth every penny!

If you’re into something less fruity, they offer something similar with corn flakes which also sounds so good!

We’ve also heard that their cakes are to die for, but obviously we didn’t have the need for a cake on a three day trip to NYC so the jury is still out.

So is Milk Bar worth the hype? Yes. It’s definitely worth checking out at least once. Maybe get a shake or some of their mixes to take home and make yourself. Definitely pass on the cookies through.
