The (Free) Perks of Staying with Marriott in Honolulu
Katelyn, her mom, and her coauthor recently visited Honolulu for a week so the two authors could present at a conference on sustainability and equity in the transportation industry. It was a last minute booked trip but thankfully Katelyn was able to score a great hotel with in the Marriott family: the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani.
This hotel—which is situated one block from Oahu’s famous Waikiki Beach and is within walking distance of some of the area’s best shopping, dining, and entertainment—comes with a lot of bonuses both at the resort and at neighboring Marriott properties. These wellness and cultural activities are meant to refresh your spiritual self and learn about the rich heritage of the Hawaiian Islands, all of which are free for guests!
Sunrise Ceremony
About 30 minutes before sunrise you can immerse yourself in the healing waters of Waikiki as you experience a tratdional Hawaiian sunrise cereomy to review the mind, body, and spirit.
Daily Beach Yoga Sessions
Every day (weather permitting) Marriott hosts a couple options for beachside yoga. That includes Nidra Meditation as well as a regular Yoga all featuring the sound of crashing waves that melds nicely with your practice.
Group Runs
The run concierge provides you with the opportunity to have a running partner as well as learn more about the area while on the move. This seem to happen daily, weather permitting.
History and Cultural Storytelling
Storytelling with Tutu is great for kids. Hotel guest can learn about the Hawaiian Culture, ocean, native preservation as well as the history of Princess Kaiulani from a local Tutu (grandmother) as they share stories and experiences from the past. Then if you’re interested in more local history, take part in one of the guided history tours that happens a few times a week.
Hawaiian Musical Entertainment
Embrace the aloha spirit and join other hotel guests every Friday and Saturday for Hawaiian musical entertainment.
Having access to these free activities was a great add for us as we booked our trip last minute and didn’t have a lot of time to plan. The staff and activity hosts were so accommodating and lovely to work with. If you find yourself at a Marriott resort in Honolulu and are interested in any of these activities, visit the front desk to register.
